How to Use the Resistor Color Code Calculator
This tool is specifically designed for Online resistor color code calculation is a handy tool for reading resistors value in Ohm whether it’s a 4-band, 5-band or 6-band type.
To use this resistor color code tool , simply click on color disk with a particular color and fill the all bands of resistance and then click on get value. The resistance value is displayed on the field below together with the tolerance and the temperature coefficient .
Resistor Color Bands
As shown below in resistance color code have 4 to 6 bands. 4-band resistance is a simple component and 5-band resistor is more precise compared to a 4-band type because of the inclusion of a third significant digit. A 6-band resistor is like a 5-band resistor but includes a temperature coefficient band (the 6th band).
|1st band||1st significant digit||1st significant digit||1st significant digit|
|2nd band||2nd significant digit||2nd significant digit||2nd significant digit|
|3rd band||multiplier||3rd significant digit||
3rd significant digit
|6th band||N/A||N/A||temperature coefficient|
As shown above Each color band represents a number. the last band is tolerance at 4 and 5 band resistances. in case of 6 band resistance 5th color band is tolerance and 6th color band is temperature coefficient (PPM/°C) or (Tempco/°C).
